Stitched with Vapor, Snow and Sound Stitched with Vapor, Snow and Sound was a one night pop-up installation in the Harmony Tunnel in downtown Brattleboro during the June 2022 Gallery Walk. The title for the piece was taken from Diana Whitney’s Sonic Blanket poem and the central component consisted of strips of torn fabric which were suspended from the ceiling, many of them marked with handwritten texts sourced from our activities at the May Gallery Walk.
The installation also contained a fm radio which broadcasted a live set on WVEW (Brattleboro Community Radio) by DJTJ curated specifically for the tunnel, hanging lightbulbs suspended from the ceiling, a vanishing drawing pad where people could write down something that they wanted to let go of, and a painted path along the concrete to help guide people through the space. In addition to the installation, local dancer Taina Lyons conducted a participatory performance ritual each hour titled The Mourning Cloak Flies, which both honored our held grief and served as a catalyst for transformation and emergence.
